    Fedex priority overnight to alaska?

So getting a trio of African House snakes and I am sooo excited!

Went to track them and not so excited.

They finally left Grand Prairie Texas after sitting there for 3 hours.

Then 7 hours later I finally get an update, saying they've qoute departed the fedex facility in Indianopolis Indiana... They've never sent them to IN before!

Thats 947 miles in the wrong direction.... and not to mention much colder than the route I assumed they'd take based on their sorting facilities.

i know there base sorting facility is in TN for east coast but 1. why are they headed east when the west coast facilities are closer? 2. why IN when TN is almost the same longitude?

its been 14 hours into shipping now and I have no updates from them and as far as I know they spent 14 hours been shipped in the wrong direction, in much colder temperatures...

They only have 11 hours left to be shipped here by 4:30pm my time. Thats the latest that its allowed to be delivered. So if it takes them as long to send them back in the right direction im afraid that they wont make it out for delivery on the trucks tomorrow. If that happens they'll be stuck at the kenai airport till thursday in 42 degree weather....

And heres the kicker. I called fedex here and asked if there was any way I could pick them up at the hub at the kenai airport and they replied and I qoute

''for security reasons we must make the first home delivery attempt if that fails we will attempt to notify the recipient before returning the package to the hub at which time the recipient has one business day to claim and sign for the package''

your kidding. does anyone else get this sort of treatment or is it just us alaskans? does any one else have this 4:30pm delivery time? Can anyone give me instructions for how to open a claim with fedex in case i need to?

depending on where it was sent from would make it come to indiana first. there is base sorting places all over the country, but due to you being in alaska im sure there is limited flights there.

as for the 4:30 delivery that could also be due to what state your located.

if you wanted it held at the fedex hub you should of had the shipper mark it as so. if it wasnt marked on the package well then its a pain to get them to change it without the shipper doing it.

3 pm now still no fedex. I always try to ask the shipper to allow me to pick up at the hub, I even left it inside the order comments. but got no response. just a spam later telling me it was due to be shipped to my place of business anyway. Im just irritated.

Re: Fedex priority overnight to alaska?

they came in, at almost 6pm... late but in surprisingly good shape. the male bit me as I was attempting to remove him from his deli cup, so that was interesting. I was almost expecting sluggish cold animals, but they were boxed pretty well. I think that says alot about how far we've come as hobbyists that we've figured out how to ship herps relatively very sucessfully despite the conditions. Of course I would not have attempted to do this in any colder weather but still.

Think I'll fatten up the trio and try my hand at breeding them, they are such a lovely species.
