Re: do BP's hiss?
Yep, they sure do. Only a few of mine ever hiss, but I take it as a sign they're not in the mood to be held... and twice the hiss has been followed by a bite, so I've learned my lesson. LOL! Most of the time it's just a warning or startled reaction, though, so with the babies I'll hold them anyway - otherwise they could make it a habit, thinking it's a good way to scare away that "big predator" aka your hand.

Ain't that the truth! I was just explaining this to a friend, how even snakes can have different personalities... each one of my 7 BPs has a unique personality, from Toby the sweetheart (can barely hurt a mouse, LOL) to my hets who have serious attitude. Just because their brains are small, that doesn't mean they can't think or react - right?

LOL. I ignore the babies when they hiss, even though Pedro has tagged me once - but that was mostly my fault, and hasn't happened since. Delilah, on the other hand, means business when she hisses. Usually she's a pretty nice lap-snake, but does have her moments of crankiness... and the hiss means "BACK OFF" when it comes from her. That I know.

Same here, but I'm not always in the bet mood when someone bounces me out of a sound sleep either.

Yes, I was reaching into the tank to grab him and heard a weird noise, I couldn't; figure out what it was then I listened to him and he was hissing at me...it was cute lol.
