Cranky Snake JuJu?
So, I went into my snake room to peek in on the hatchies and spend some time with the rest of my collection. They are hella cranky, and not just the little hatchies.
Hissy and strikey, many of them which usually aren't - even my most docile male who can be passed around to anyone and probably fall asleep. No change in husbandry and they were all fed two days ago.
I was just wondering about others' experience. Do you have the random wave of snake cranky wonkiness, not just with one but several in the collection at a time? Like some kind of snake mass hysteria? lol
It's just weird!
Maybe it's the weather, or just the moon. Who knows.
Maybe I just need to take a shower.

I kid you not, today about half of the ball pythons I went through at work were really cranky. I even got nailed by one of em. My thought is that they are just extra hungry to put on some weight before winter. I know carpet pythons feed in cycles like that, and now is heavy feeding time for them.

People wonder the same thing about their fish on my other favorite forum. We blame it on barometric pressure. And yes....fish get grouchy too. Homicidal even. Ask anyone who keeps cichlids.

Funny you should mention the moon--the midautumn festival (where the moon is at it's roundest and biggest to the human eye) is this week.
Were-snakes, that's just what we need these days.
Watch and wait; a hapless creature has wandered in wake of my growing hunger. My oh my, don't you look tasty? Hey traveler, what do you know of wolves?
All that's scaly and reptilian, all that's furry and mammalian, all that swims in the sea, all that flies in the sky--I love each and every one of these precious creatures.

Re: Cranky Snake JuJu?
actually, i think i've got some cranky snake juju.
my recent show pick up who was an angel at the the show and for a few days afterward is now a BEAST. She comes flying out of the tub ready for bites, and they're defensive. I'm not sure what her problem is :/ she struck her tub REALLY hard and hurt her mouth.. she's well out of reach and sight of my cats and she passed the biggest urate i've ever seen in my life and she's still cranky.
even my normally docile spider female is a little flustered.
