Dear drivers that cause accidents and then run..

THIS IS WHY YOU DONT RUN RED LIGHTS. THIS IS WHY OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD SHOULD STAY AN APPROPRIATE DISTANCE FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM.

This happened to me today. I thought i'd tell someone other than my parents.

Out of the 4 possible cars that were involved in this, 2 stopped (myself included). I got hit from behind by a Frito Lay truck going 40 something while I was stopped (stopped after the car in front of me stopped short). Took out my window and did all the damage you see. My poor car. My boyfriend and i were fine though, i was pretty shaken up. This car is only 2 months old. Honestly though, we barely felt the impact of the truck even though the car was pushed forward and stuff.

His insurance is covering everything because he's the one at fault, but the guy that ran a red light into the intersection to cut off the car infront of me is REALLY at fault for this. He sped off.

And of course its pouring right now.. I hope its ok in the rain.

Aww so sorry about the car, but glad to hear you are okay! Honestly, some people just are so inconsiderate and just plain terrible drivers....

Aw, man, that's crappy. Sorry about the idiots on the road. Argh!!!

Yeah, I'm still surprised I haven't been rear-ended yet. 'Cause I actually stop at stop signs and red lights.

It was awful because i stopped without hitting the car in front of us (i was driving), and then i look into my rear view to see whats behind me and i SAW the truck hit me, and heard all the glass break, it was the worse noise ..

I found out last night NOTHING can even start on this until Monday at the earliest because Frito Lay's insurance companies arent even open on the weekends. ..what if someone is hurt yanno?

Now im stuck sore and inconvenienced driving my BF to baltimore (30 miles from where we live, one way) AND BACK twice today (so.. 120 miles just to go to work) because the car cant stay unattended because its not secure. This isnt my week.

So sorry that happened to you - it's a horrible feeling! I'm glad that you are ok, though you probably still should be seen by a doctor. I was in a car accident several years ago and felt fine, but turned out I cracked a few vertebra in my back.

GLad you're okay, the guy who caused the accident isn't only inconsiderate but technically a felon, leaving the scene of an accident is a felony.

his car wasn't physically involved, but i was angry enough, and the other driver was a big guy, and my BF was in the car with me so i think he thought otherwise. Someone might have thrown a few punches. He ran a red light and caused this.

It may be spiteful and mean of me but I hope someone Tbones him good. If i did something like this to someone else, i wouldn't be sleeping well at night but at least i know i have a conscience. :/

is that still a felony if his car wasn't involved?

Re: Dear drivers that cause accidents and then run..

Sorry about your luck, and I hope you are okay.

Maybe the other car actually ran a yellow light, and the car in front of you misjudged their ability to get through the intersection before the light turned?

    No Felony.
They were not involved in the accident and proving that they were even aware that an accident took place would be tough, if not impossible.

Plain and simple, it is the Frito Lay truck that is at fault. If he had at least the one car length per 10 miles per hour(4 car lengths at 40mph) that is required, a properly working brake system, and a reaction time that was not delayed from toking on a blunt earlier or texting/talking on the cell phone while driving(? just sayin' it's possible,) He could have stopped before hitting your car.

    Yeah, I'm still surprised I haven't been rear-ended yet
That's one for the "Out of Context" thread.
