How often do you change substrate?
I was using newspaper and I changed it once a week, but since I switched to aspen, I have gone a month just spot cleaning. Is this too long?

Re: How often do you change substrate?
i clean / total change he aspen when it either really dirty or they knock their water bowls over (which is about once a month).. I do make a note to change everyons aspen at least every other month no matter when it was last changed, ( i scrub tubs and hide then) I clean waterbowls every week.

I use paper towels, and since she's never really out I clean it whenever I see fit. Most of the time it's after a mouse pees everywhere, or when she does. and occasionally when I spill the water

Re: How often do you change substrate?
I currently use newspaper and change it only as needed, to me it is the easiest and simplest. When I used to use substrates I changed it about once a month... the only problem that really I had with substartes was that some of the "messy snakes" would push the substrate into the water bowl.

Re: How often do you change substrate?
I use coconut fibre and spot clean everytime I change the water! I do a full cleaning once every 4 to 6 weeks unless needed sooner!
