First bad luck of the season...

The season has been going very well for me until I got to proving out my poss het G-stripe females. I bred a 100% het male to female in 07 and the 3 resulting poss het females all laid this year. I figured at least one would prove out but I ended up with three clutches of poss hets. 9 males and 8 females all together. Little dissapointed about this one but I guess you can't win them all. All of the poss hets are at least really nice and bright orange, but I don't know if I am up to raising up all the poss hets again on this project. Might just have to admit defeat on this one and buy a 100% het female. I knew back in 07 that I should have bred that het male to a another female but I just ran out of females for him. Worst part is that I paid more for that het male in 07 than a visual g-stripe costs now.

Don't forget that a het x het will not always result in a homozygous in the clutch. So one might still be a het, just that you were unlucky.

Might be worth to buy a G. Stripe instead of a het now ? That would increase your chance. Even if you paid quite a lot of money on that het male, it would not be all useless if you actually have a het female in those possible ones.

Money comes, money goes. You never know where it's gonna be.

But yeah, possible het can be a pain in the ass I think. But when you hit it, it's good.

    John, Heartbreak Hotel.

Sucks to take a bullet for sure, not only money, but TIME and ENERGY put into it.

It will all come back around full swing, you know it will.

    Good luck brudda.

Yea, this was the only sour spot on an otherwise great season. I am hoping I just missed on the odds and one of the poss hets proves next year. My het male came from snake keeper so I am confident that he is actually a het. I'll probably give them one more season before I move on from the project.
