I didn't want to post pics of this young 50% het Lav girl until I had some evidence of whether or not my hunch about her was correct. As you can see in the pic, she has a big area of "light/yellowish" pigmentation on her side-it's almost like she has the gene for Lavender Albino, and it is "trying" to express itself. I had a VERY strong feeling that this indicated she was a true het.

Well, I put special effort into breeding her to our Lavender male this season, even though she was a bit small (1300 gms). It worked, and surprisingly she laid a pretty substantial clutch-6 good eggs. First a couple pics of her:



Anyway, her eggs pipped this week, and, as you can see, my hunch was correct-though the odds were not good (1 Lavender out of 6). Anyone else out there been able to prove out possible hets having this (or other) color/pattern incicators?
