    Question???

This afternoon im going to be picking up about 50 new rats for the rack. And the guy also has some babie pinks that he wants me to take also. If I take these and bring them home and split them up and stick them with a few of my momma rats will they take care of them like there own kids? I have nothing that feeds on pinkies at the moment so I have no need to feed them off but there free so I would love to raise them and keep them females. Thanks for the help!

    Re: Question???

If they've already got pink you "should" be ok.

If this guys rats are not rats related to your rats, you need to do a 60 day quarantine to be sure you don't bring in something that will kill them all.

Have fun with the poop scoopin.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

    Re: Question???

Thank you. Half of my rats are related to these rats the other half though are not. When I started I got about 30 rats from this man that im getting these from today. And then after that I picked up another 20 from a lady a few miles away from me. Ill be sure to keep them separated. I dont want to kill them all.

    Re: Question???

Wes is right to caution quarantine of at least 30 days. All it takes is one rat. Lice, mites, fleas or any of the very contagious infections (SDA, Sendai, Killham) can bring down a colony.
