general questions about going to a show

I've never been to a reptile show before, so I really don't know what they're all about. There's one close-enough to me coming up that I'm really thinking about going to (Repticon right outside of Memphis on Sept 19-20). I don't have money to spend on anything at the moment, but I think it could still be cool just to go for a day and have a look around.

So sorry if these are dumb newbie questions, but what goes on besides there being a lot of vendors? Are there seminars/speeches/demonstrations or anything like that? Do people bring their pets from home to carry around and show off? Can people bring their snakes there to be probed by professionals? How are issues of health and safety and quarantine handled?

Re: general questions about going to a show

check out their site for the show, gives you a good idea of what to expect as far as vendors, demonstrations and so on...

at the ones i have been to up here i have seen people that have brought in their own pets to show off or to trade/sale (w/e other reasons) but personaly i would not just for the QT reasons alone.

like it or not there are some of the good guys and the not so good ones at those shows so it is always best to air on the side of caution when it comes to your animals.

you have already stated you wont have money to get anything (LOL and that can be a plus for your first show) but by all means go have a good time looking at all they have to offer, talk to some of the vendors get some first hand info... use it as another way to learn first hand some of the things you have possibly been wanting to know.
