    Talking Natasha laid her eggs

    Yay!

I came through today to find 7 eggs and one proud mama.

I candled them all and they are all fine - except for number 2 which is another half veined one to keep me chewing my fingernails.

The rollout has some lovely veins in it but I labled it "egg 0" just in case.

She was really sweet and only hissed at me a couple of tmes when I was taking her off of them.

there was one hairy moment when I realised I had mis-measured the box sizes for the "not-proffesional-enough-to-be-called-an-incubator-bator"

But I managed to get away with it by squishing the ones without lids slightly.

I think the time for an upgrade has come.

And here is the skinny momma just before her bath - she is down to 1257g so I will try a mouse or two tonight before thinking of going back up to rats.

Congrats Derek, they look fantastic and momma looks good too considering.

No doubt she'll be back up in no time.

Good luck on the half-veined egg as well.

    Re: Natasha laid her eggs

    Hi,

Well I didn't cool anyone down this year so their only cues would be from the notorious scottish weather.

But so far mine always seem to go later than most other peoples even in the UK.

Cooling or light manipulation or not they always seem to lay in the back end of the year - though my normal male Herman was breeding anything he could get his tail around since last december if memory serves. He does seem to have stopped in the last month or so though so I guess my season is over.

Now I just have to wait on everything hatching.

Cleo's eggs are on day 43 so not long now. Which is a bit of a problem as I haven't built the hatchling accomodation yet.

    Re: Natasha laid her eggs

    Hi,

Well she locked a lot with the normal male and, though I put the male lesser in with her on numerous occasions, I never did catch them doing anything.

The same was true of Cleo's clutch so I may get a hint of the daddy in two weeks or so.
