100% Het Ghost (First Ball Python)

Small Story before pics I am VERY Excited about my new pet. Sorry if to long

Well a few months ago I made a post about learning about this wonderful snakes before I purchased one. Since that time I have been doing ALOT of research. This forum has been invaluable. Even tho I have just been lurking I cant say thanks enough for the information.

So today went and purchased my first Ball. From the title he is 100% het ghost. I am not to worried about his genetics as much as my wife and I both loves his pattern and colors. This is intended to be a pet. If he becomes a breeder then I will know his genetics as well. It was a great experience and he was purchased at a reptile show in Columbus Ohio from a breeder who was recommended to me by a breeder that I buy my leopard geckos from.

When I purchased he gave me a card with his birth date. All his feeding dates. And his weight as certain intervals. He had informed me that he had only ate live mice so far and had refused F/T.

He hatched on July 4th, 2009.
I had noticed that in past two weeks he had not fed so I figured I would try him on a F/T after I had let him settle in for about 6 hours. (I know I am suppose to wait but I was excited.)

I put him in a seperate feeding space and let him get used to that space while I left the thawed mouse in a small container outside of his feeding space. I did that for about 30-45 minutes while feeding my bearded dragon. \
I had watched a few feeding videos and noticed that these snakes are very fast and decided that a nice long pair of tongs was a good idea. I heated the thawed mouse up slightly with a hair dryer and dangled it in front of him with no luck. I then let it sit for a few minutes and let him investigate. I figured he might not be interested yet. So i picked the mouse up again and jiggled him a few times he struck and wrapped up very quickly. Which in turn made me giggle like a school girl. (I am 6'2 about 285lbs)
Sorry again for the long story.

Without further rambling. Here are a few pics
Any help on names would be much appreciated.

    Lol,

Glad to hear your first feeding went so well.

The zombie mouse dance takes time and skillz to master.

It sounds like you picked a good breeder too.

When I sold last years babies I gave the shop all the sexing and feeding records etc thinking it would help the end buyer ( I didn't have my name on it or anything in case the shop objected ). Imagine my expression when they put them all in the same tank and couldn't tell which feeding record went with which snake.

I ended up drawing a distinctive bit of the snakes pattern on the corresponding records.

As for names how about Monk?

The pattern on his head reminds me a bit of a floating ghostly monks cowl.

We took kept the note card. But we purchased a large tablet and put all the information in it. We are now keeping a log of everything he does. I think it is a great idea and I am glad the breeder was doing it cause I would not have thought about it.

I like monk guess its time to run it by the wife and see what she thinks.

LOL... you sound like me, since I'm going on #7 in less than a year.

OP - Nice snake, and welcome to the forum! Since he's a het ghost, maybe you should pick a ghost name? Casper seems too obvious, but something like that would be cool...

Nice new snake, I usually watch mine for a few days or pick a theme. Since yours is a het ghost, the name Specter comes to mind.
    All the Best,
