    Smile Is she Pregger's?!

o.k. I just want some advice from someone experienced! I recently purchased a male pastel and female normal from the same guy to breed.I kept them seperat for about a week and they both ate great! I moved them together into a bigger tank and keeping the temps a little cooler.
So,I fed her on 9/25 and put them together on 8/29 I have not seem them lock up but I have two hides in a 50gal. and they spend every day curled together all day and then at night they come out and explore for a while.I fed the male on 9/2 and have offered her food twice but she refused both times? NOW FOR the question, is this normal behavior for a male/female living together and is it possible she is Gravid already even though I have not caught them in the act?! Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give some background so you know!

This is normal behaviour for 2 snakes who are stressed out being housed together. Separate them and house them together, then do scheduled pair ups during breeding season, assuming both females are up to weight/age to be bred.

What the above post said. Separate them, then do a 3 days in 3 days out. Also are they at breeding weight?

It's only one female, one male! \i guess I have to do more reasearch, don't believe I've heard the 3day rule before. What exactly shows they are stressed?! Cause besides them sleeping together they're behavior seems pretty typical, which all my other BP's are housed seperate so of course they can't choose to shack up with someone! I thought the staying together was a good thing?! The male is still eating on schedule and ithas only been a couple extra days since she ate?

I welcome feedback from you all or any new posters!

I guess that is a matter of opinion. I have vast differences in numbers from "experienced" breeders!I will say she is quite a bit bigger than "Henry's" from the post I think is titled '07 ready?

How much does she weigh? And how much does the male weigh?

    Re: Is she Pregger's?!

I'd seperate them, let them rest a week, offer food at that time and see how it goes. If they eat, give them a day or two to digest properly then cycle the male into the female's enclosure for 3 days. Remove the hides so you can observe any copulations and note that. If you are concerned that due to using a glass tank they may feel stressed without the hides simply cover it with a dark cloth while they are together. After 3 days seperate them, offer food and repeat. At some point you will either see courting or mating behaviours or they will simply ignore each other and show no further breeding activities. Watch the female thereafter for signs of ovulation and egg building.

If you don't already have a digital weigh scale you should get one. They are an invaluable tool when you keep snakes, especially if you intend to breed them.

Her refusing to eat is one clear sign of stress. I doubt very seriously that she's gravid already, and in my experience, most of my females are still eating months into breeding. I start breeding in mid/late October, and my girls are still eating through at least February. My clutches so far haven't come before May.

    Re: Is she Pregger's?!

Keep them in separate enclosures... Feed them As the above stated, they aren't eating most likely b/c of stress... Once they are feeding start paring... This is how i pair... Leave them together for about 2 days (I usually see locks within 15 minutes of pairing... And after two days (Or when they are no longer locked) separate them again, and give them a 2 day break... Offer a meal once a week on a break day... Give them about 2 days break after each meal they accept... You will know a female is for sure gravid when she ovulates..
