    Your advice please!

I was wandering if it helps to line the out side of a tank (outside/bottom) with foil to help keep the cool side warmer? I do have UTH on the tanks with reostats in use however my hot side is at 90 and cool side is 71 most of the time. I am worried that the cool side is to cool. Any input would be apraicated.

If you are using a aquarium with a screen top, I would try putting a towl over the cool side to try and keep some heat in.

What you could try doing is moving the UTH over towards the cool side. Not a lot though, just enough to get to get the cool side to the right temps.

Try insulating the back and sides of the tank with dark foam core board. If you haven't already that is.

IMO that is quite ugly. If your going to do something like that, why don't you just go to a tub setup which is much easier to achieve humidity and temps?

    Re: Your advice please!

Making a plexiglass top with a few holes drilled in can really help keep the heat and humidity in. Lowes has plexiglass they will cut to whatever size. I made one with a hinge in the middle and one side somewhat fixed. It is easy to open. I also made a little latch so it can be locked. That might help the temps.

I keep my BP's cage in the basement where it gets cool. I bought a ceramic heat emiter on a dimmer that I use for supplemental heat in the cage. I mounted it on my plexiglass lid and have a gaurd around it to prevent my BP from being able to touch it.

    Good luck.
