HELP with yet another heating problem

Ok,

I have a 20GL with two UTH both on a ReptiTemp Rheostat one to control the cool side one for the hot. Both are turned all the way down but still read over 104. How do I get the temps down and at the same time the ambient temp is at around 75 WTF... someone please help

wut r u using to monitor the temps? why dont u have TWO uths? u really should only need 1 o_O for teh warm side.

If it is in a tank some people find that it is necessary to keep a UTH for the cool side to keep it at 80 so that the humidity isnt sucked out with a lamp.

Your problem is the rheostat. Those things are worthless unless the room it's in is kept at one steady temp all the time. Also, many of them can't get low enough for BP temps.

You need thermostats, one for each side (or a Herpstat II which has two probes but costs over $200). If you can't afford the Johnson or Ranco at $80, then get a ZooMed Reptitemp 500R for $20 while you save up. They're cheaper and they're dial stats so you have to tweak a bit, but they work!

Having two UTHs on a 20g is fine. It's how I run my tanks (with thermostats) and it works fine. I only have lamps that shine near the tanks for ambient light.

Also, to keep temps stable in a tank, make sure you have the back and both sides insulated and the screen top covered with foil or plexiglass.

If your home temp is 75 then you should only need one uth on the warm side. The heat from that side will bring the temp up to 80 or so! It makes it alot easier to manage!

My home temp is 80 and I need UTH's for both sides.
