Red Light (nocturnal)

I'm new to have a Ball Python. I was advised that they do not like bright lights and not to use a household bulb to create heat for the heated area on the tank. I have a 30watt Red light I believe and it's not doing much atall if anything really. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I figured I would go hosehold bulb because I have waisted allot of money on reptile bulbs for my Dragons and I find that house hold bulbs are allot cheaper and do same result.

Stay with the zoomed or exoterra red bulb it all depends on the side tank your using 30 watt seems a little low. I have a 20 gallon tank with a 75 watt on the hot side keeps it around 90 and i have a 20 long with a 60 watt and keeps the hot side at same around 90 and the cool side on both is in the low 80s

If you're having trouble with heat try using an uth like the ones fro Zoo Med. Just make sure you have a light dimmer, rheostat, or a thermostat attached to it to control temps.
