    What would you get if you bread a super hypo pastel to a honeybee?

    Re: Honeybee + super hypo pastel

    First of all, welcome to BP.net!

    A Super Pastel Hypo x Honeybee (Hypo Spider) would give each egg a 1/2 chance of being a Humblebee (Pastel Hypo Spider) and a 1/2 chance of being a Pastel Hypo. Since one parent is a Super Pastel and the other parent doesn't carry the Pastel gene, all of the babies will carry one allel for the Pastel gene (from the Super Pastel). Since both parents are homozygous for Hypo, all of the babies will also be homozygous for Hypo. Statistically, 1/2 of the babies will get the Spider gene, leaving you with those two possible outcomes: Humblebee (Pastel Hypo Spider) and Pastel Hypo.

    So what would be the difference if it was just a hypo pastel and not a super? Pretty much I'm trying too figure out if I should buy a super hypo pastel or just a hypo pastel!

    With the super you would get all pastel morphs and better odds of hitting what you want to get, which im guessing is hummble bees.

    Humblebeex super pastel youd get - More Hbees, pastel hypos, and super pastel Hbees, and super pastel hypos
    With a normal hypo pastel, youd also get normal hypos and honey bees.

    I may be missing something, feels like I am.

    Re: Honeybee + super hypo pastel

    from my genetic calculator

    Male = Honeybee
    Female = Ghost, Super Pastel

    Offspring predicted as:

    ---------------------------------------------------
    50.00% Ghost, Pastel
    50.00% Ghost, Pastel, Spider

    all your babies would be pastel , all would be hypo and half would have the spider gene as well.

    Super hypo doesn't apply to BP's as hypo is recessive.

    If you mean hypo super pastel x honeybee, then as has been stated, you will get 1/2 humblebees(hypo pastel spiders) and 1/2 hypo pastels.

    If you decide to just do the hypo pastel x honeybee, then you will get

    25% hypos
    25% hypo spiders(honey bees)
    25% hypo pastels
    25% hypo pastel spiders(humble bees)
