Red face FINALLY! Good pics! Give opinions please! DUW!

Thunder is my 03 ICH breeder. Ive had her for 6 years. There has been some debate as to what exactly she is (YB?) if not a normal. Well i finally got the right light & was playing with my new cam last night to get these shots of her. I finally captured most of her true color. Also look my "Pastel" hold-back. She is orange w/black bands? Almost no blushing. WTH is that all about?? lol! The male looked just like a pastel should except with lighter eyes. But the female i have is just strange..

    ~Thunders belly shot~

    ~Thunders top shot~

    ~Some flames~

    ~Her tail~

~Close up of yellow scales which run along both sides of body head to tail~

~Whats up with Bella? My hold-back. This is what she really looks like. I was using a "daylight" spiral bulb. Her brother looks like a pastel. What the heck is up with her?~

    ~Bella has a clean white belly though~

~And the sire Orion. Nice "blond/lemon" Pastel. Check out his unusual tail belly marks. Almost looks like pied markers.

    ~Nice green eyes~

Unhappy Re: FINALLY! Good pics! Give opinions please! DUW!

I find it odd that not a single person on here (not even the people who know nothing about morphs) seems to want to give an opinion on these pictures..

Ok the back story is this. My female Thunder is an ICH. That means i picked her out of a huge tub of babies hatched from an imported female. I personally have never seen a 7 year old "normal" with the patterns & color that mine has. I do not know if she is a yellow belly though.. I will be breeding her to a YB this year to find out..

The thing is. Most of the veteran breeders who have looked at her pictures say no flames, no YB... But this is not always true. Especially with the WC ones. The trait of having flames has gotten better over time with captive breeding..

YB are known to have a clear to ivory belly. Parallel dashed or speckled markings that run along the sides of the belly scales. They are known to have a pixelated look to the side scales. Much like a granite. Only with yellow scales. They are also known to have a burgandy head with a lighter area in the center of the head. Many have jet black markings mixed with burgandy markings or spots. Many are more banded.. They have many differnt variations and have improved greatly with selective breeding..

This season i plan to breed her to a proven YB to see if se is in fact a YB. If not.. Im at a loss because as i said.. If you look at the close up of her scales and know that her pattern and color combinations runs the entire length of her body.. What in the world could she be? She does seem to have passed her somewhat banded pattern on to my female pastel offspring i held back. Which is another mystery in itself. They hatched neon yellow. Now the female is black banded, no blushing, little white spots outlined in yellow here n there on her sides, and she is solid orange. Just have to wait to see what she looks like in a couple years..

But even if no one wants to give an opinion on the possibility of Thunder being YB. I hope you at least enjoied the pictures i posted.

Hey there, don't get too disappointed. This forum is so busy many threads got lost in the sauce.

At worst case Thunder's a great dinker, but I don't know about YB... I've YBs here & there's something different it what I see with your critters. Still cool looking & who knows?

Never heard the term ICH... if the eggs were hatched in captivity, then technically they are not CH, but being from an imported gravid female. But this may be a term I have just never heard.

I have been wrong before and will be wrong again.

I would say no to her being a YB. Side, belly, flames, and pixelation... they just do not match. Not maybe not a YB, but not at all.

Once you see a few they are quite easy to pick out.

Either way she is a gorgeous snake and if you are into her, then that is all that matters.

    Thunder is a normal.

If youre looking for het stuff, you will have to breed it to prove it.

Agreeing with everyone else here, Thunder is a nice animal but she doesn't look to be a yellow belly.

ICH, from my understanding, means the eggs were hatched in captivity but either they or a gravid mother was imported before the eggs were laid or hatched. So i guess anyway you look at it, it just means shes an import but she was hatched in the USA.

Im definately "into" her. She is the one snake i would never sell for any reason. She was a birthday gift to me in 03. I picked her out of all the others because as a baby she had a very yellow top-line, the yellow scales along her sides were orange as a baby and her red spot on her head was more pronounced..

This is why im hoping the orange of the pastel "bella" doesnt brown out like it usually does on pastels but eventually gets brighter like thunders did.

She may not be a YB but she defiantely has some traits shes passing along to her offspring. If shes not a YB what would be the best thing to breed her to? A YB still? A granite? A Calico or Banded maybe? I just dont know..

I think those two are good choices, especially banded.
