    Tank project

This week I am planning to insulate my 20L tank for the winter. Here are my ideas, please let me know if you see any glaring issues or have ideas that you think may be better.

I am going to insulate the back and sides with Styrofoam board on the outside of the tank. I'd like to paint it, so anyone that has experience with a paint that won't dissolve the styrofoam and is safe for my snake I would love to hear about it. I may just leave it and cover with contact paper if I can't find anything I am sure will be safe. I plan on attaching it with 3m adhesive spray.

Inside the tank I am going to hang cage carpet along the inside. I think velcro is the way to go with this one, but I am a little worried about the sticker type material coming off and getting stuck on my snake.

I use an UTH on the bottom and the side of my tank to keep temps. My humidity stays in range this way with the top covered, but I know that this winter when temps drop I may need to turn on the overhead light and that will change the humidity. We don't keep our house very cold so it may be overkill but I'd rather have the insulation and not need it.

If anyone cares to see how it turns out I'll post pictures when I'm done.

Why not use terrarium background paper on the inside of the foam board, and forget about the carpet inside?

Also, if you spray mount the foam directly to the glass, it'll be tough getting it off when things warm up.
