NEED HELP- very worried.

hi everyone! hope everyone's doing great tonight.
i have an important question- i soaked some wood pieces in a 1 part bleach 9 parts water solution while cleaning out a viv. i fully and completely rinsed the wood off after letting it soak for about 7 min-- it is now drying but my question is-- could the bleach get inside the wood and hurt my gtp? or since i rinsed it so well i can let it dry out a bit and put it back in the viv. any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks!

I don't know much about GTP's, but for my ball pythons whenever I soak their wood pieces with some bleach it doesn't go back in the cage for at least 24 hours. You shouldn't be able to smell any bleach on the wood before you but it in.... I just 95 parts water and 5 parts bleach btw. Hope this helps!

Ive not used untreated wood for my herps but i have collected untreated bogwood and driftwood for my aquarium. The soaking in bleach part is good. You should always do that as well as scrub the entire piece with a stiff scrub brush or one of those green scrubber sponges. Boiling it in water for at least 2 hours is also recommended for aquarists. But this is not always feesable if the piece is too big to fit in a pot on your stove. Which is why a bleach soaking works just as well..

Definately let it completely dry out before putting it in with your pets. When dry, the chlorine in the bleach evaporates. If its completely dry there should be no chlorine or fumes at all to harm your animal.
