    Eggs.....

So my gravid ball laid a clutch of eggs this morning (my first btw) and like the rookie that I am I didn't check to make sure she was done laying before I stuck her in a tub of water with a little dish soap. Long story short, she laid an egg in the water a day it was in there possibly 10 or 15 minutes. I carefully rinsed it, dried it, marked it a put it with the other eggs. What are the chances is was damaged? Anyone have something like this happen before? I'll keep an eye on it, just curious. Ten eggs in total btw.

The problem with water is that it plugs up the tiny pores in the egg shell that allows the egg to breath. It doesn't take long to suffocate an egg. Keep an eye on it, but personally I wouldn't hold out much hope.

That's so weird that she laid in the water. Eggs are really sensitive to moisture. I would at least put it in the incubator and see what happens.

From my experience, snake eggs laid in water do die. But it can't hurt to incubate it to see. Good luck!

    Re: Eggs.....

I just checked on them and it looks like all the other eggs. Only time will tell I guess.

Another good reason not to soak a Ball in water!
    Hope the egg hatches.

    Re: Eggs.....

Just a quick update.... I candeled the eggs this morning and they all looked good, including the "water egg". Keeping my fingers crossed.
