I was just thinking about pterodactyls and what not. you might be able to use pieces of plastic for the thinner parts like the wings. I keep all the leftover plastic from my mouse and rat bins...lol. would just have to get a "form" and put it in the oven for a little bit until the plastic starts to warp and then mold it into the form.
I was also thinking you could use the same method for making "armor"...since I'm kind of a sci-fi guy myself...cyborg dinosaurs appeals to me lol.
Actually...XDD You just about hit the nail on the head about how to mass produce costume armor for Star Wars costumes quickly and easily...
I was thinking I could use those sorts of things for the armor plating or spikes on stegosaurs, spinosaurus, etc.

lol. I didn't even stop to consider the star wars thing. I've known about it, but that didn't come to mind when mentioning the armor plating haha. I've never made any costumes or anything, just had the info handy
I like the armored idea though, if not cyborg, then definitely for stegos...or even those...ankylosaurs? I'll have to look it up...they pretty much look like armadillos haha. never been too handy with dino names
