what dimensions of the enclosure will i need...

hey guys, i own one ball python already (and for those who remember me he is doing absolutely amazing!) and id like to add another one (probably an albino)

so i have a couple questions

    - How well do they get along? i know they will tolerate eachother usually, but will there be fighting or anything of the like?

    - what dimensions should the enclosure be for 2 full grown balls?

and another question, is there a way to sex these guys besides probing?

it is not healthy at all to house two ball pythons together. there are a number of reasons why and if you search the site im sure you will find plenty.

You can pop them instead of probing to determine sex.
Refrain from getting another snake until you have another enclosure

2 separate enclosures at all times. They can be as simple as tubs, but they must be separate.

As for sexing, there's another method called 'popping' that experienced keepers can do. It doesn't use any tools, but you have to know what you're doing. It can be taught, however.

And, as far as the enclosures go, remember that you can build a rack or two stacking display enclosures to save space and money. There are lots of ways to reduce money and space use for multiple snakes...and most of us here have mastered them.

Re: what dimensions of the enclosure will i need...

its actually that bad to house 2 of them together? i have a friend that breeds them and he keeps many of them together, and they are fine, i was just looking for second opinions. it was going to be a very large tank (i know glass arent recommended, but ive had no problems keeping humidity and temps proper) i was thinking about buying a tank about 48x18x18 in inches for them, and providing a ton of hiding spots, making it as natural looking as possible, (not so natural to the point i wont be able to get at any waste in the tank).

Re: what dimensions of the enclosure will i need...

glass are totally recommended! They're a perfectly fine choice, just not quite as easy to keep temps/humidity right as tubs and ABS plastic side-opening cages.

It is very much recommended to NOT house ball pythons together. If you've got space for a large cage, hopefully you've got space for two smaller cages. Sorry, but that's the advice you'll get from everyone here.
