Try a plastic tray with a clear lid for starting seedlings. Use a layer of orchid bark, a thick layer of moist sphagnum moss and some live sheet moss on top. Dig up a few pieces of fern and plant them in all 3 layers, and try to get some with visable spores. Mist it daily and keep the humidity up. This is my setup for 2 of my dart frogs, and I have uncontrollable amounts of ferns growing out of nowhere. I saw one fern leaf sticking out of a piece of live sheet moss I bought and it looked dead, but I'm overrun now. Once you get one established you should be able to transplant it and it will take off.Originally Posted by Ginevive
The ferns are awesome in the woods. I have tried many times to bing a few up and either put them in the moist part of my garden or pot them.. they always die
