    Neon and Cardinal tetras

    Hey

I have a lovely mixed shoal of Neons and Cardinals .. in with a beaut pair of Ram cichlids, a young Geophagus .

A very quiet, sedate and relaxing tank which was the aim .

The tetras all swim around at peace with the world .. in little groups of 5 or 6 or so occasionally about 20 will swim around together

Apart from one lone male Neon tetra who has taken the back upper corner of the tank and chases everything that goes in his patch away !!

Has anyone ever seen this behaviour ??

I've seen a couple do that. I honestly don't know why they do.

I think most every creature has some sort of "personality", but it's not always [this] obvious to us. It makes sense to me that some would be territorial- maybe it has to do with reproduction?

    Re: Neon and Cardinal tetras

You're making me want to set up a tank again lol. I had beautiful one with black neons lemon neons a few rasbora and a pair of blue rams. Definitely one of my all time favorite setups.

I've seen some of the male tetra pick on the other tetra quite aggressively for sure. Pretty sure the males can get aggressive when they're breeding. Not 100% but I think that's what was happening at least with mine. I never seen them breed but there were babies now and then in the plants and drift wood.
