New Spooders!

Hey, I haven't posted in F O R E V E R! But, I have some really good news! I have collected some jumping spiders!! I have two (of different species) and they are named Aspen and Archie.

Aspen is a Tan Jumping Spider (platycryptus undatus) and is female.


Archie is a Bold Jumping Spider (phidippus audax) and is a male.


I have had them for about three days, and they are pretty small, so most likely juveniles. Aspen seems almost to her maximum size (10mm) and Archie is about the same size, but his maximum size in 30mm.

EDIT - I forgot to add, but I DO have them in separate enclosures as all spiders can be cannibalistic when kept together.

Congratulations. Are they field collected (wild caught)? I imagine that's acceptable for jumping spiders. I look forward to pics and learning the details of their care.

Yes! They are field-caught, and it is acceptable in the jumping spider community as they are very abundant! I will post some pictures as soon as I can!!

I just saved a little jumping spider yesterday, actually.

He or she was in an empty trash barrel that I'd had yard trimmings in- I ushered him out to make sure he didn't get left behind or harmed. Cute little things, aren't they?
