Re: Hognose day. (Westerns and Tricolor)
Gorgeous. How do the tricolors compare with the westerns in terms of behavior / personality?

Temperaments seem very similar to Westerns. Females are often quite food obsessed and not generally quite as good a pet and males are prone to feeding strikes but usually make great pets. They like to borrow a ton and do try to dig into one's hands while being held.

All very appealing. Funny that Westerns have black bellies...so many snakes sport lighter colors below- maybe it helps them blend in when they roll over...?

Actually the completely black belly is because he is an Anaconda morph. Normal bellies are black and brown, here is the best belly pic I can find of Atticus, my normal.

I wondered about the "Anaconda" morph, hadn't heard of that, thanks.

Anaconda is a co-dom pattern modifier. In the het form (Anaconda) it cleans up the top pattern a bit and makes the belly black. In the homo form (usually called Superconda) it removes all or nearly all the pattern from the neck down, as seen on Ziva.

I really prefer their normal patterns...reminds me of a sidewinder.
