    Banana Pinstripe Het Pied

So I had to buy some food from our local pet shop today and I have seen this little boy in a tank evert time I've been there and he just breaks my heart. He is a Banana Pinstripe (and they claim 100% het pied though I'm not sure I believe that considering they dont have any proof). They're asking 400 dollars for him.

I can afford him and I have a seperate home he can stay in to be quarantined from my other reptiles for as long as I need to, but I'm not sure if he has been eating and 400 dollars for a potentially sick/stressed animal.

As you can see by his enclosure, he isnt getting proper care, and I've seen him there for at least 2 months. Do you think he is worth the risk? I'd love to add him to my collection but I'm on the fence. They'll take 80 dollars down and I could pay the rest in 3 weeks. Idk. I think I might be able to get a better deal online.

I feel like if he is actually het pied that's a good price.

What would you do? I won't make a choice today, but I'd like some other input.

I would pass based on the picture alone, chances are it's just a Banana Pin which in that case is over priced.

Last place I would buy hets is in a pet store, with hets ALWAYS by from a reputable breeder, that produced and stand 100% behind his animals. There are tons of great breeders out there, yet it will cost a little more but in the end will be worth it.

You my feel like it's a good deal but if he does not prove you will have lost time and money on that project.

I get that. I doubt I will end up taking him home. It would be awesome if I could have him proved out ahead of time. I think it's a combination of convience and eagerness. Banana is something I want in my collection bad, maybe I'd be better off waiting for the next reptile show.

let's see: i see old shed, urates, possibly dried poo, less than fresh substrate and dirty glass. the poor animal looks stressed w/o a hide and trying to squeeze into it's waterbowl for security. there may be vet bills in the future for this one. that said, he looks like a very vibrant/colorful Banana Pin tho. he looks like a decent "rescue" but a risky purchase IMO.

Maybe he'd be more worth it if money was disposable for me. At 400 dollars he would be more than what I payed for my other 3 snakes combined. That being said, 400 dollars isn't disposable for me, that's saving and an investment. What do you think a Banana Pin male would run me (lets just assume not het pied) at a show or from a breeder?

I paid $1,100 for my coral glow het pied less than a year ago. If it is het pied it would be a steal.

They've droppe in price that much that fast? That seems kind of insane. Did I get into this hobby at the right time or something?

    Re: Banana Pinstripe Het Pied

I was actually linked this male shortly after posting this thread amd I just put money down on him this morning. No het pied but a beautiful male regardless that I won't have to risk time and effort to prove out!
