Water temperature for ball python

I have a 55 gallon tank that has a pond on one side of it that I'm using for a ball python. I have a submersible heater that can heat from 68-93 degrees, what temperature should the water be? its a 12"x13"x4" pond.

I have had a few water features over the years but I never heated the water.

Im guessing with a tank that large you have some heat lamps and a uth. If so I don't think you need to do anything to the water.

As long as the water is staying at least room temp you will be fine. If you have lamps the water will be slightly warmer.

With more info on your setup I could tell you an answer without assuming.

The pond will obviously be on the cool side, about 2 feet away from the 150 watt CHE and UTH I'm using to heat the tank. It'll be under a 13 watt natural light but thats it. It's also in my basement which stays significantly cooler than the rest of my house, usually 62-65.

Unless you have flow in there also a heater isn't going to do a whole lot for the water temp. You could put another heat mat under the water portion although I'd be inclined to remove it altogether since a pond won't be used or appreciated by a ball python.

I would urge you to consider a different set up. Your snake doesn't need a pond, and the cons out weigh the pros.

If I had a water feature I'd want it to be around 75f - 78f
But the water would have to be circulating for an even temp.
My cool side in around that so that is what I would aim for.
Some people are going to say how pointless it is and whatever but it's your choice. Also you might be surprised to see your royal having a bit of a swim in there if that's what it fancies.
Just like putting things to climb on. Not all royals climb but some will use it if it's there.
It would also help with humidity which is always a plus.

The pond was already in the tank which was a resale that I got for $25 it may not be ideal but it was already in it and I need to save as much money as possible so I needed the tank.

Is there a reason you need to fill that area with water? You could just fill it with substrate and have that much more floor space for hides and what not. unless your going for a living terrarium or something micro-ecosystem like

It is a vivarium, but the only living things other than the ball python is 6 plants
