    Shiny Tape? ✨

Hello! I was wondering what the silver tape is people use to stick their heat wires into their bin systems but I can't figure out what it is or where to find it.

Don't know about bin systems, but the tape I used for my UTH and top of tank was aluminum tape. You can find it at Home Depot (or probably most hardware stores). At Home Depot it was in the HVAC aisle.

Okay. I can't specifically find the "heat tape"I've seen on Amazon so I was trying to just see what it was.

If you're looking for "heat tape" it's called Flexwatt.

Aluminum tape is used for air ducts and such and found in that area of the hardware store. This tape is used by many to mount uth's as well as tstat probes.

Flexwatt is not tape at all and is instead a thin piece of plastic with a conductor built inside that warms with electricity. This is best found online and some places will prewire it for you when you order it.

If you build your own rack you may have to tape the flexwatt down but if you order a nice rack many have a actual cutout that the flexwatt fits into that holds it in place.

Are you talking about aluminum foil tape?

Any hardware store will have it. I use it to stick my heat tape down. It can help spread the heat and allows the tubs to slide over it easily.

I'm having better luck with electrical tape...the aluminum tape always falls off of my cages.
