    Western Hognose terrarium

Hi guys, so My western hognose is going off feed recently and I'm almost positive it's my fault.
I have a 20 gallon tank set up and ready to go with aspen and several places to hide and dig, like this cage is DECKED OUT, and I do have a UTH stuck to the hot side but he's never over there. My thermometer says its at the right temperature but it's just one of those really crappy zoo med ones so I'm starting to doubt that it's even remotely correct.

Im just not too sure how to heat it. Since they like to burrow, it's not really safe to use a UTH underneath right? He needs a hot spot but I don't want the rest of the cage to be too cold. I tested a white heat lamp and it was way too hot for a 20 gallon. Should I invest in some heat tape and a thermostat? What would you guys recommend?

Anything helps. My hog is my personal little babe and I want him to be doing better than he is as of late.

You must use a thermostat with any heat pad or heat tape...it is 100% safe to use a uth with a thermostat...analog gauges are very inaccurate and you need to use digital

UTH not a fan of heat tape for stand alone enclosure that you might move around, I prefer something more sturdy and durable like Ultraterm, reliable thermostat.

Also keep in mind that with hogs food refusal can also be due to enclosure size (depending on the size of your hog) and see (males are more prone to go off feed whereas females tend to be miniature garbage disposal.
