Please, please help! Eggs in jeopardy....

This is the first clutch I have had and it was unexpected (was told they were housed seperately...Apparently not). Did my research found 90 degrees is ideal, high humidity important, use vermiculite and perlite..... did it all, got it set up in the incubator and have been anxiously waiting. Went to check the substrate for moisture today and when I stuck my finger in it was pretty cool, definitely didn't feel as if it had been in a box at 90 degrees for 2 weeks now. Apparently my guage somehow stopped working and the dials are stuck at 89 for temp and 85 for humidity. .... so is there hope? What are my best options at this point? Someone please please help!

How do the eggs look? Have you candled them? What are you using for a thermostat?

What kind of incubator are you using? Do you have some other kinds of digital thermometer/hygrometer that you can use for an accurate reading. Cool substrate doesn't always mean that the ambient temps are off. Anything wet is always going to feel colder than the surrounding air.

Re: Please, please help! Eggs in jeopardy....

The temps are fine with anything between 86 and 92 for incubation works (also I do not recommend over 90) so it really depends on what the fluctuation may have been. Lower temps are less dangerous of higher temps. What I would recommend is a temp gun and random temp check but most importantly a RELIABLE thermostat.

Now as far as humidity if it was low the eggs may have start drying out or collapse (hard to tell without pictures). If this is the case you will need to add water to your substrate.

For reassurance just candle the eggs for now, that's all you can do, for the rest you will have to wait and see, it's hard to predict outcomes not knowing exactly what temps the eggs were subjected to and for how long.

Well I think we may have lost 1 egg but I got new dials and Temps are a steady 90 with humidity 90+. Thank you for all your help and advice. Does anyone know where I can find a candling guide that shows growth throughout the incubation process that I can check mine against?
