What's a good first kingsnake?
I'm considering a kingsnake, but have heard some can be flighty and nippy. Which kingsnake do y'all think would be a good, first kingsnake
Thanks
Beth

My male California King is a doll, very laid back and good to handle, has never offered to bite.

California kingsnakes are pretty common for beginners. Mexican blacks can be good too.
Most kingsnakes really are pretty easy to deal with. Ones that can be flighty or nippy generally calm with proper handling. From personal experience I find you are more likely to get musked on by a kingsnake then bit.

Id say a cal king. i have one and he never tries to bite me unless it was right after feeding. but he stopped doing that. I went to get him out of tank last night and he had blue eyes and didnt even musk on me. i didn't realize that it was his time to shed otherwise i would of left him alone

I say brooks. Awesome and impressive animals and pretty easy going except during feeding. Which is the case for all king snakes. Stupidly easy to take care of as well.

I have a soft spot for Brooks Kingsnakes and California Kingsnakes.

Any of the getula subspecies are darn near unkillable and all make great, beautiful captives. I'm partial to brooksi and floridana myself.

I love my Cal King and MBK. I've seen some beautiful Mosaic Kings too.
