Trading - Who sends first?
Since a buyer would send payment before a seller ships an animal, shouldn't a buyer ship an animal for trade first also? Or do they usually ship at the same time? I'm just about to make my first trade, and I don't know what's customary. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Trading - Who sends first?
From what I have read here in the forum, the person who initiates the trade ships first unless there is another mutually agreed upon arrangement. Make absolutely sure you've done your homework on the person you are trading with. Trades seem to be the worst transaction to try and recover from if it goes bad. Not much recourse. Best of Luck

A trade is just like any purchase, the animal in this case replaces cash.
The person initiating the trade should ship first, and upon inspection and satisfaction the other person should ship the very next day.

Thanks! I'm confident this will be a good trade and it's nice to know what I should expect.

Whoever is new to the hobby ships first.
I'm not sending a snake to an unknown person to hope they send me the trade animal.
Reputation plays at least a small part in trades ...

Jerry, you're going to confuse the newbs.
If you don't know the person who offered the trade, use extreme caution and unless they're someone well known with a good reputation, like Jerry, DO NOT ship first.
If you offer the trade, even if it's to an unknown person with no reputation, you ship first since you offered. Again, be very sure who you are shipping to. If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is, take a pass. There will ALWAYS be another snake you like out there waiting for you to find it.
Caution is the key word. Use the BOI on Fauna and ask on any site that pertains to whatever species you're trading.

We all start somewhere.
When I was new I sent first, but I also did those trades with respected ppl in the reptile community.

Well, I think he has a pretty good reputation... It's Jay (Jason) Cassidy "Caveman", the costar on Urban Tarzan. Have you heard of him?

I was channel flipping once and made myself watch about 5 minutes of that crap. Total BS. He may be a fine guy, but his show is pure crap. I'd recommend caution. Find out where he got the snake, how long he's had it, why he's getting rid of it, what kind of guarantee he has, all that good stuff.
