Black a dominant gene?
So, my beige female and my beige hooded male made 11 babies, all look like the mother or father. My black female with the same father made 11 black babies...so is black dominant?

I am confused. From what I understand, beige/tan is really black/brown with just the red eye dilute going on?

Correct, and red eye dilute is recessive so if the black male doesn't carry red eye recessive then it can't he can't make more beige rats, only black rats.

There's two possibilities with this litter, either the dad doesn't carry the red eye recessive gene or the odds got blown away because by odds there would be 50% beige rats if the male carried red eye.
I'd lean more towards dad not carrying red eye recessive, but only more breeding would prove that out.

I will separate her before her next litter, to make sure none of her sisters sneak in there. Thanks for all the info. Either way all the little black ratties are adorable. Wish I had big rat breeders around her so I could get into the fancy stuff.
