    Black Bearded Dragon?

Well I've seen a lot of morphs of bearded dragons, from red to white, but this is the first time I've seen a black one. Where can I find one? Buy one? lol

    Re: Black Bearded Dragon?

They tend to turn blacker when they are trying to absorb more sunlight. Beardies can change their color quite a bit depending on mood, temps etc...

    Re: Black Bearded Dragon?

That was a wild beardie, too....so it wasn't exactly selectively bred for darkness. I'm pretty sure if it's not all fired up and defensive, it's most likely just a regular grayish beardie.

Man, it'd be so cool to live in Australia and see that kind of wildlife in your backyard!

Like everyone else has mentioned, beardies turn black when they are stressed. When my beardie becomes stressed it's 'beard' turns black and often his sides. I've never seen one so black but I've also never seen one that upset. As far as I'm aware this is not a morph, just one pissed off beardie.

Ah alright, I knew that their beards turned black, but didn't know their body also change color. Would be cool if there was a black morph.

I wish it was a morph but unfortunately it's not.

    Re: Black Bearded Dragon?

There are something like 7 species in the genus Pogona, vitticeps being the standard bearded dragon. Besides that I think only henrylawsoni has any presence outside of australia. This is one of the other species.

*on a very brief googling of 'black pogona' it seems that this could be an Easter bearded dragon, Pogona barbata. And that there are in fact 7 species in this genus (according to wikipedia)
