Christmas should start ding a lot better now.
I think our little rescue dragon should start doing a lot better now. Got rid of the grow bulb that came with her and got her a reptiglo 10.0 uvb bulb today. She is really starting to fatten up since we first got her and her true colors are starting to show. I'm not sure it's female though, do females get dark black on the throat or is it just males?

Have you looked at the femoral pores? That's how I sexed my beardie. If you don't know what to look for search on the net for "how to sex a bearded dragon"....

They both can get black! There are little bumps on the inside of the back legs on males. That is the easiest way to tell but they have to get a bit older. Typically will not show when they are little.

Re: Christmas should start ding a lot better now.
When you're holding Christmas, have someone hold her and put one hand over her face to kind of "hide" her. Then, gently [don't want to break the tail] pull her tail up about 90* and look at the base of the tail on the actual tail. If there's one bump, that means female and if there's two bumps [one on either side of the tail] that means male. Males and females will both turn black or dark to absorb more heat/light and if they're "bearding" they might black beard to be more intimidating.
Here's a good link with pictures on what to look for while sexing Christmas. Keep in mind though, if your beardie isn't fully grown, chances are it'll just look female. Beardies tend to look female until they're fully grown unless you have a vet probe them and even then the vet usually won't 100% guarantee it.
