breeding black mexican king snake to cali king?

Ok simple enough question. Can we breed our black mexican king snake to an albino california king? Then breed a het albino mexican king back to the parent to get albino mexican kingsnakes? I know they interbreed naturally, but I read somewhere the offspring arent fertile and have high mortality rates or mutations? Anyone else heard of this? Is this even true or is it just someone talking out their butt?

    Buns been a flappin'.

You can cross them, cross them back, and get viable offspring without any problem. Whether or not you get pattern on the babies is something else entirely.

If you're looking for an all white albino cal king there are some nice snows out there.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

No problems at all breeding them.

Keep in mind, there are no pure Albino Mexican Black kings. These I'm sure are already cal king crosses.

    Good luck.

Actually we're looking to make either all white or all yellow mexican king snakes

I've never seen one of the crosses that turned out that way. I've seen solid what and just about solid yellow calkings though.

By the way, if you cross them, just so you know, if you make hybrids, you'll go straight to hell. I have a booth reserved, just tell them you're with me at the door, that way you won't have to wait so long. If you use pine on your rodents, even better.

Only problem here is they are not hybrids. They already occur naturally in the wild. Same species would be an integrade.

I suppose, though aren't they still 2 different species?

Nope. They are different sub-species. Lampropeltis getula california and Lampropeltic getula nigrita....thus making them an integrade. A hybrid would be if you crossed say L.g.nigrita X Pantherophis guttattus guttattus, aka mexican black king x cornsnake.
