I like the orange flames the bling has. It does give it a unique look compared to other YB's I've seen.

I watch the videos to see cool snakes, not to learn really. I take everything I hear in his videos with a grain of salt. I agree 110% with Jinx. I think the fader "gene" is a result of line breeding. Even the HGW + G (granite) thing is debatable. Supposedly the granite "sticks" to the HGW, and you can produce granites. His pastel YB fader granite looks like a regular pastel. I bet it's a pastel YB, but granite and fader? meh. Doesn't warrant the 4k price tag IMO. As Jinx said, if people are willing to pay that money, then good on kevin for being a great salesman. Sloan Reptiles purchased a "HGWG" but sell their offspring as HGW. They say their philosophy is that they'd rather sell a snake as what it obviously is, and if the buyer gets something sweet out of it, then they're happy.

I also think Jinx's fire YB is one of the hottest ones out there, and there's no fader in it lol. Just a great example.

Shop for quality - not the gene, not the price, and not the name. You will be happier than if you saved a few bucks on that brown bumblebee :gj:.

I don't dislike Kevin at all. I think he's doing a great job getting people excited about ball pythons. He definitely has a passion for reptiles or else he wouldn't fight tooth and nail to keep them available for all of us. However, he's also running a business, and he must do what he can to sell his snakes. That means telling people that there -might- be something extra in his snakes, or that his snakes are the best. Doesn't everyone say they have the finest, healthiest, most top-shelf animal? Just felt like adding this disclaimer-ish paragraph to let you know I'm just sharing my opinion, and not really giving a review on him or his business :gj:. I freakn love NERD :P.

This often feels like a MLM. Its hard not to get distracted chasing the carrot. My goal is making a panda pied very looooong term considering I bought a black pastel girl from Jerry last year and het pieds. Also I am focusing on clown projects. In those I need to have a morph base to produce hets. And the chaos starts.
To make a short story longer from what I see I like Kevin's stuff. I also would buy a bling YB with knee high boots on if you know what I mean.
What I'm thinking for 6 or 700 dollars I can put the bling to a breeding test against a "normal YB" or preferably a orangebelly. I would breed the bling to a lemonblast I have and the other to a pastel. See what comes out. I won't be put out financially since when I sell I'll be benefiting from Kevin's marketing.
I think the bling will come out on top and if it doesn't ill end up with some cool YB stuff.
I'll make a decision next week and post pics of the two boys and results when it's done.
If it not fun it's not worth doing.

I feel the same thing about my line of yb :)

I also think Jerry's YB look far superior to Blings as well.

When someone says "their line" what does that mean?
you started from a import? Or selective breeding? Do they have specific patterns or blushing that is can consistently be reproduced?
I've been a lurker for years finally started interacting with the community.
There is no ball python dictionary.
I noticed the definition of ringer is not always consistent. Sometimes I think they should call it a paradox.
As definitions go it seems to be subjective.
I keep using the gold blush Mojave as an example. It seems that once you breed into your stock it might start loosing some of the gold blush attributes. Called leaning toward the mean.
But it would still be considered a line correct?
