Hognose not eating. I'm not sure why.
Hey. I have a male hognose snake that I've had for 1/2 years now. He was always an "on and off" feeder. He would eat for a full month, then stop for a week or two. I realized that tubs work a lot better and would help with finicky eaters.(he was originally in a 20 gallon long with slightly incorrect temps) So I put him into a nice tub with a good quality thermostat. Temps stay at 89F on the warm end, and 80-79 on the cool end.
He now hasn't eaten for 2 months now and I'm a little worried.

But what surprised me is that he hasn't lost any weight within those 2 months, and is still very strong and active. Why isn't he eating?!

It's weird that he hasn't lost weight. You could try dropping the temps for several weeks as a sort of mock brumation. I've heard of folks getting males back on feed this way.

No advice here... But wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. I've had my male hog for just over 1 year now and he has been doing similar things to yours. He just started eating again over the summer, and then abruptly decided to stop about a month ago. I even setup a fluorescent light over his tank just in case lack of light exposure was causing it... Still no dice.

Good luck with your guy. Mine went about 3 months without eating in one stretch and did get very skinny. It can be very frustrating when you have all the parameters correct and they still won't eat.
