Looking at getting some crested geckos

So my mom is looking into to getting one or two crested geckos after we saw some at a reptile show. She plans on making a nice vivarium for it. anyone willing to give any tips or tricks would great. We don't have them yet. As we are going to get the viv up and make sure our numbers are right

Crested geckos are very easy.

As far as temps whatever is comfortable for you will work for your crestie when unless you are one of those people liking extreme temps, ideally you want your temps in the mid 70, but 68 to 80 is a suitable range. You want to avoid high temps, anything over 80 for a long period of time will stress you geckos and it can lead to death.

Enclosure wise an adult can live comfortably in a 18 x 18 x 20 or 18 x 18 x 24, however if you get a young individual you want to start small, a small plastic critter keeper is often ideal. Too large of an enclosure for a young gecko can make it difficult to find their food and ultimately your gecko will not do well.

Substrate can be bioactive or as simple as paper towel which is easy to replaced when soiled it also help maintain humidity.

Diet I always recommend Pangea Banana Apricot, while you can feed insects you do not have to if you do not want to, and if you do phoenix worms, crickets and dubia roaches are the best insects you can feed.

As far as humidity goes misting once or twice a day is all that's needed, gecko will also drink from the droplet of water in the enclosure.

No light light do dry out the enclosure and can make the enclosure too hot.

When young you want to avoid housing 2 geckos together as one will often bully the other especially when it comes to food. Once full grown you can house 2 females together or a male and a female together (in that case female must be proper weight). Never house two males together.

There are many recipes but when I used bio-active substrate I used to do

Potting soil 35%
Coco fiber 35%
Sand 10%
Grind up leaves 20%

You start laying a plastic bag at the bottom of your enclosure, lay a light diffuser on the top of it, add a plastic canvas on the top of that and than add your substrate.

The light diffuser and canvas serve as drainage.
