Bugs in my ball pythons water bowl
I came across these mite looking bugs but they seem to be brown in color and not black like snake mites I've seen before plus they are floating on the water together plus there are no critters on him anywhere and he's an Ivory so would be easy to see anything on him if there was so was wondering if anyone had any idea what they might be?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c16d994bf7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4826706852.jpg

Water mites? What substrate do you use? They might have come from there.

I'd try cleaning everything and use only paper towel for a bit to see if that was the issue and make sure none of them are on the snake. Then replace the substrate with some that has sat in the freezer or been baked in the oven. Or just get new bag of substrate to see if that gets rid of them.

Put one on a paper towel and smash it to see if there's blood.

I use a combo of repti chip and eco earth. I smashed one on my finger and it just kind of crumbled no blood or anything but ill try with a paper towel when I get home this afternoon.

Are you thinking they're ticks? They don't look like ticks to me.

I think he's having me make sure they're not snake mites which drink the snakes blood.

I thought snake mites were black, but I'm not experienced with them. I'll have to defer to others.

Ya thats why I posted on here cause im positive they're not snake mites but wanted to know what the heck they were and hoping they're not predatory cause its a bio setup and has other invertebrates so hoping they don't eat everything or that I have to poinsen everything to get rid of them.
