Cat hurt or not

I took a step backward and heard an awful screech I stopped but now my cats limping so I'm a bit worried that my cats back leg might be be more then just a little hurt.But about half an hour after I went to pet her and sh rolled on her back and stretch out he back legs she still has a bit of a limp. What do think.

I couldn't count all the times I've stepped on, sat on, or laid on one of the kitties tails/feet. They must be made a lot sturdier than we are! If someone stepped on our fingers they would be broke in a heart beat. Usually within an hour or two they are back to normal. I check periodically throughout the day and the next week if I really stepped on someone's paw. If you pinch their paw they might squeal and pull away, but if you give it an hour or so they shouldn't-as long as you didn't break anything. One of our kitties is blind and she gets her paws/tail stepped on much more than the other kitties. She thinks she has to be right by your feet when you're cooking.

I was clipping all of their claws tonight and one of our cats bit the heck out of me and squealed when I tried to pinch one of his claws out. Neither of us stepped on him, so I'm not sure what happened, but I'll be doing the pinch test on him periodically to make sure he's healing.

I wouldn't worry too much. They aren't pansies like us humans :P My Enzo will let me stand/sit/lay on his tail without doing a thing. I only realize when I feel something pulling under me! Just keep an eye on your kitty and do the pinch test!

Oh, and they won't keep limping unless it's really really bad. They are excellent at hiding their sicknesses because in the wild they would be the first ones picked off by a predator. That's why you need to do the pinch test, and feel each toe to make sure the bones are working right.

I just read through my post and thought I should elaborate a bit so people don't think I'm evil!!! We have four cats and every single night we have at least two cats in bed, along with our six pound dog. It's not uncommon for all four and the dog to be in bed, so you could imagine how easy it is to lay/sit on one by accident. You also have a least one or two shadows if you get up in the middle of the night in this house. As for stepping on toes, that's mostly the blind one because of her habit of sitting by your foot wherever you stand. The other is Stuart, the fat cat who will walk in front of you in the middle of the night, plop down, and wait for you to step on him :rolleyes: Then if you don't pet him he will bite your ankles.

Hopefully no one thinks I do that stuff on purpose :(

OP, I'd say your cat should be fine. Give it some more time (couple days) and if it doesn't go away then go to a vet. Unless you notice it is suffering more discomfort than just a limp.

If your cat can roll onto her back and stretch out her leg then it's probably just bruised or some other minor injury. If it doesn't go away in a couple days then you should contact a vet. Also try feeling it to make sure that there are no lumps/swelling which could indicate a deeper injury.
