Best termostat
I'm hearing mixed opinions on the best heat control unit what's your opinion?

Re: Best termostat
I'm voting for Herpstat, but it's the only proportional thermostat I've ever owned. So my answer is biased.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

I have HydroFarms, VE, and Herpstat. Putting aside the HF's, my first "good" T-stats were VE. I like the look and the duller green-amber display. I also think the menu settings are easier to navigate.
Nevertheless, my second VE came with mis-alligned outlets in the back. Just skewed. It is also very hard to unplug from one of them. Last VE I'll ever buy.
The Rosy boa is now on a Herpstat, and when the the new gopher snake arrives, she will be on a Herpstat as well.

Also, Customer service is great. Speaking from my experience and the many stories that I have read here on the forum.
I'm not saying the others don't have good service. I just don't recall hearing about the other T-stats.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Re: Best termostat
I voted for VE-300. I have two of them and am happy with them. I have used Ranco and Helix in the past - never had any issues with any of them. VE is just what I am currently using.

Re: Best termostat
I am using a Honeywell dc1010, not exactly a plug n' play and not intended for herp keeping, but it's as precise as you can get, and easy to configure. I love the PID function.
Any way good to hear herpstat are good because just ordered my first.
