Never Stays on Hot Side
I read a couple older threads where this didn't seem like a big deal but I wanted to pose this question again.
I have two identical hides located on top of a UTH. The hot side reads around 93 and the cool side is around 83. I couldn't tell you the last time, that I found my BP on the hot side. I will add that I have an artificial plant draped over the top of the hot side hide so I'm not sure if that could be a factor in my BP's preference.
Any cause for concern? Thank you!!

Where and how are you measuring the temperature of the hot side? Also what heat sources are you using?

Could be that he's a little too warm since 83 is a touch hot for a cool side and hot is better not to go over 92. You might wanna try dialing back your cool to 80 and your hot to 89-90 (you are referring to surface temp right?) and see if that makes a difference. If not then some Bp's just prefer to be cool lol.
My boy for the longest time would always choose his cool hide over warm. It was only recently he's decided to start using his warm hides like a normal child. Every now and then he changes favorites.

That's a good point! Op I can't recall if you are using a temp gun?

My hot side floor is 90.5 degrees. I am a firm believer that 90 is the sweet spot and what your snake will be most comfortable as they reach adulthood. Juveniles and infants like it a tad cooler but I think once your snake reaches over 500 grams that temp keeps them satisfied. My tank outside of this varies from 84 on the stones under the RHP all the way down to 75 along the cool side wall and I have a cold hide that hits around 79. Dante moves around according to how he wants to regulate and having a cage big enough to provide various spots to do so has helped him out tremendously. It wasn't until I dialed in that warm side that he started loving it over there.
Once you dial back temps a bit, check to see if he starts going to the warm hide. It can be a trial and error thing until you get temps to their liking.

First off, thanks for all the replies. You guys (and girls) rock!
I'm using a temp gun for my readings and my heat source(s) are two ultratherm UTHs placed on opposite ends controlled by a HerpStat2. After combing 100s of threads when I started thinking about getting my 1st BP, I came up with these ranges but it seems from your replies that I may want to dial them back a little bit. Easy enough to do.....
He's been very lazy lately; meaning I have to open his hide to catch a glimpse of him. Maybe w/ the suggested temp change I'll see more movement.

Yeah I think 90-91*F on the hot side and 80*F on the cool side will suit him better.

yep...I was having trouble w/ the cool side staying above 75 so I thought it might be wise to invest in another UTH. If I could do it all over again, I think it would just have gotten an RHP for my pvc enclosure. Hoping that my BP outgrows his current pvc enclosure so I have an 'excuse' to upgrade

Mine will become reclusive one - two weeks before his shed. I haven't had him long, but noticed he did this prior to his first shed just after I got him. Now, a couple months later, I noticed he hasn't been as active lately, is in his hide most of the time and even missed his last meal, which has NEVER happened before. Two days ago I noticed his eye caps are getting a bit dull. I've learned that for him, reduced activity levels and more hiding may very well indicate an impending shed.
