Is my cage and heating setup ok?

    Hi is my setup ok?

    PVC enclosure size 60×40×40 cm or 23.6 x 15.7 x 15.7 inch.
Warm side air temperature 30 to 31 degree celsius or 86 Fahrenheit
Cool side air temperature 29 degree Celsius or 84 Fahrenheit
    my hides are cooler though.
Basking spot 32 to 33 degree Celsius or 89/90 Fahrenheit

Are these parameters acceptable? And for how long can a baby live in this enclosure?

That's pretty huge for a hatchling. I would make sure to put a lot of clutter so it doesn't seem like a big, wide open area and cause stress. Cool side is too hot by a bit. What are the temps inside the hides? What type of heating device(s) are you using? A male could live in that size for a pretty long time. He would eventually outgrow it, but with correct diet it should take at least a few years. A female would probably outgrow it by about 1.5-2 years.

What kind of heat source ?

Is it regulated by a thermostat ?

Are you using one of those stick on thermometers - similar to one of those shown below ?

I use a heatpanel and of course a thermostat. I haven't measured temps inside the hides so far but they are a few degrees lower than the air temperature.

    Good on the thermostat.

However, make sure you checking temps with a IR temp gun and inside hides as well. I shoot for 87-89F for my ball python, but have a few spots about 90F and a few about 86F. Inside her warm hide it's about 89-90F.

Remember, the ground temps are what matters, and that's what you should measure. The placement of the thermostat probe and its reading can be different from the ground temps.

Also, if using a substrate, remember, BP's will borough, so the hottest temp is what you measure, even if it's on the bottom of the tank (if you use a heat pad for example) .

Good luck and keep us posted.

    ???

The hide in the warm end is normally the warmest place on the viv floor ...

What device are you using to take the surface temps ?
