None of mine ever got dunked but they were in the cages of my Bloods and BRB. Both of which have high humidity. That is why I bought the outdoor models. I thought they would be able to tolerate it but even they died one by one. After that I just gave up on those cages.

I've used these in all my enclosures for years and never had any issues. Snakes lay on them, knock them over, they get wet, etc and they've always been great. Now obviously they aren't water proof, and if they got in a bowl they would probably break, but just normal use sitting in the enclosures they've been fine. I love that they have a high and low feature on there so if something whacky happens with my readings while I'm out I can see it when I get home.

I tried those too. Did pretty good but after two were killed I took the ones I had left out. That's what I have on each side of my snake room now.

Maybe my collection is just harder on gear. I do have some good size snakes compared to a Ball so maybe that's been my problem.

I've got one of those also, and it's been working fine for about 10 years. Might not survive a dive into a water bowl, though, lol.

You're probably right, I could totally see just holding these how a larger animal laying on one could do some damage to it, and I highly doubt these would survive a swim in a water bowl. Even the few times a week I mist my BP enclosure I take them out before. I mean my smaller animals do move them around, and just seeing how they leave them laying sometimes I could only imagine what a blood doing the same thing might do to them lol

Yeah if young BP's can fling one into the water bowl, still not sure how she managed that, and my other one broke half the display from laying/messing with it, then I don't want to see a blood mess with them lol

    Re: Humidity/Temperature gauge

In a strange update the acurite I got from Walmart, the one I found in the water bowl, started working again. Guess it just needed to dry out a bit.

It's this one for anyone wondering: https://www.walmart.com/ip/AcuRite-I...E&gclsrc=aw.ds
