Dimming vs pulse proportional thermostat
Just wondering which is better for a heat panel. The thermostat (herpstat) has both modes. I tried researching it but some sources say dimming is good for all heat sources while others say it shouldn’t be used for mats, panels, etc. I know on/off thermostats can cause any heat source to break quicker overtime due to constantly flipping on and off. But I thought pulse proportional was basically on/off but flicking on and off much quicker, meaning it might run the same risk? And any clue why some people would say dimming thermostats are actually bad for heat panels?

Re: Dimming vs pulse proportional thermostat
I've had my herpstats running my RHPs on dimming mode for ~5yrs without issue. I believe they mention somewhere in the owner's manual that the pulse proportional setting helps to minimize an audible hum created when using heat tape in certain rack systems or something? I don't know but dimming proportional setting has caused no issues over several years with any of my panels.

Re: Dimming vs pulse proportional thermostat
Im in the dimming camp as well using it on the heat panels successfully for 7+ years with no issues at all.
Can't imagine why dimming would be bad for the panels as the thermostat is just decreasing and increasing the power to the panel.
