How to mount RHP to exo terra screen top?

So I really am starting to regret my exo terra purchase but I’m stuck with it. Anyway, does anyone have any videos or a thread or just some advice on how to mount my reptibasics RHP to the screen top? The screws that came with it aren’t going to work. I’m not very crafty so I need this info as dumbed down as possible. Thanks!

I have mine on top of the lid. The easiest way to mount it inside would be to find a piece of wood and have the wood on top of the screen. Then just have the rhp inside the cage with screws going through the screen into the wood.

Was just about to make this suggestion. Might need longer screws though.

    Could they potentially melt?

I wouldn't suspend it from inside with zip ties. Would hate to see them give with snake under it. I would more at ease with screws or bolts. If attaching to the outside of the top zip away. That's my over cautious opinion. I have seen several people mention just sitting it on top of screen with no issues over heating the screen but if be concerned with the plastic though it may be fine.

I thought about resting it on top but I feel like that lets a lot of the heat escape bc it’s not laying flush on the screen/

It doesn't. If you wanted you could always get a little insulation and cover the rhp and part of the screen. RHP has directional heating so most of it goes straight down and heats the substrate. Just like a che does but the rhp covers more area so it's not as energy dense. It heats a larger area but with lower heat to achieve the same overall heat input. This is why rhp heat more evenly.

This is how I have both of my exoterra cages set up.

Re: How to mount RHP to exo terra screen top?

I ended up using my soldering iron to melt two slits in the bottom of the top and mounted it flush to the screen with bolts washers and nuts and it worked well. I need some shorter bolts but it looks great!
