    Question Snake Bite...Infected?

    Hey, I'm new here.

I was bit by a new breeder the day we got her. I had her out to put her in her tub, and she grabbed my hand. It was fine, healed in a matter of days. Now, I had raised blisters, and it's itching like mad. She bit me on June 17th, and it raised up on July 4th.

I will try to attach a photo..

Is it possible there are teeth under the skin? That could cause it to heal differently.

I haven't popped the blisters, but I wondered the same thing. Would it be abnormal for there to be like five or six teeth in there?! This is the first time being bit so I have no idea.

If it's throbbing, oozing, red, feeling hot than it's infected otherwise can be a mild allergic reaction to saliva.

When in doubt seek a doctor.

Agree with all above...but IMO most likely embedded teeth...one or more could do it. Snake teeth are hard to see to remove too, they tend to be on the translucent side,
you might let your doctor know that this "splinter" might be harder to see. Snake teeth break off easily, especially when we reflexively jerk away, so you could have
literally any number of teeth in there. I think a plain old infection or reaction to saliva would have happened much faster...I personally vote for "snake teeth" as the time
frame fits...it takes time for your body to respond & try to push them out.

I've been tagged a bunch of times, fortunately no teeth left behind yet. But yeah, I would imagine if one can come out a handful could too.

I've had an embedded tooth once...it took a while for the reaction to build up to where I realized that's what it had to be. At first there was nothing & I thought the bite had long-since healed. That's why I said the time frame fits IMO. I didn't see a doctor...I dug it out myself & treated with Neosporin, but that's up to you to decide.

I think that's what I plan to do. Really trying to avoid going to a walk-in as my area has rising cases of covid-19.

If I were in your shoes I'd start digging myself. Unless you slip HORRIBLY you're not going to further injure yourself. No need to risk going into a Covid breeding ground. Just clean well before and after. As a former bartender I have dug countless pieces of glass out of my hands, and a few from my feet (whole different stories).

IMO this honestly looks like an allergic reaction of some sort, if you actually look at the photo. I can't imagine a snake doing one tag and having like ten teeth broken off on every point that a tooth entered the hand LOL, that just doesn't happen. Usually one or two teeth at most, if ever.

Regardless, I'd prob also go to a doctor to get it checked out ahah
