Im so sorry! Man, he was such a nice snake too. Though bad, a unknown good warning does come out of this. my friend used the same container for my new she got me,kingsnake. I'll make sure to add weight to the top.

Sorry for your loss - I just came home tonight to the same thing. My little white sided baby decided that being on the outside of the screen was more important too. I didn't think she was strong enough - and I had it clipped down. She got her head out but the screen pinched her in.
